The Urban Household Survey was designed to obtain detailed information on the workforce participation and employment status of urban residents aged 15 to 44 years in Papua New Guinea together with information on the characteristics of urban populations that might contribute to understanding the nature and causes of unemployment. Persons aged 15-44 years were asked about their housing and migration history, employment history, material resources, family responsibilities, and travel to home village. Background variables were languages spoken, age, sex, education and marital status for all household members.
