AbstractThis is a longitudinal qualitative study of the pathways followed by 132 young people who left school before completing their secondary education. The project covers difficulties early school leavers face in their employment situation. It It examines whether leaving school enabled respondents to make effective choices about their life situations resulting in positive outcomes for them, or whether their initial decision to leave school had left them with little guidance and support or little sense of purpose or real choice in their lives. Background variables include age, sex, birthplace, highest level of education and occupational status. Data not available on Nesstar.
