AbstractThe aim of the study was to learn how Australians view social class. A selection of data from a 1973 study of social mobility in Australia was used (SSDA Study No. 8) with a content analysis of responses to open-ended questions about social class in Australia being done. A series of questions asked respondents to identify the most important classes or social groups in Australia. This includes what classes they see as existent, what are their distinguishing characteristics are, and any inferences about their views of class relationships which may be drawn. These data are the text of the responses to these questions used for the content analysis. See also SSDA Study No. 211. Data not available on Nesstar.
